Sweet sweet T&T - such a hidden gem! If you're looking for a true authentic Caribbean island experience, add this country to your travel bucket list! The fact that it's untouched by tourism made it even better. Every beach we were on felt like our own private beach. Also, the difference between Tobago and Trinidad is really neat because you can have two different types of vacations in one. Tobago is more laid back and slow paced while Trinidad is a bigger city with lots of parties and people - however, don't get it twisted...Tobago knows how to party too! The way we were treated by everyone we met, the food, the constant sound of soca music, the energy and the positivity was unexplainable. The First Peoples of Trinidad and Tobago are once again calling for a public holiday, so they can help raise awareness in the nation about the history and activities of the indigenous groups. But the call doesn't stop there, they are also calling for the history of the First Peoples to be taught in all schools. Cherrylene Lewis has the details.

Took a cool drive thru the hills of Trinidad, normaly the day is filled with harsh and bumper to bumper traffic, its nice once in a wile to have a cool drive, it was very early so not much cars on the nations roads. Got up at 5am and left home at 530am. The air was cool and the hills were dry. The civic felt good with all the new suspension mods but I was not to eager to push around those corners. All in all the hour driving was filled will much excitement and fun. Its the simple things in life we have to appreciate and always remember what we have is more than enough.

Rich's mom Lynette take the trip with them along with two of her sisters and their daughters. We rented it a beautiful house on a hill overlooking the bay with a grougous pool. I booked the house on someway.com https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p426756 While there we went to the popular Storebay Beach and Pigeon Point beach and heritage park. We did the Jet skis in pigeon point. and The boat tour that took us to no mans land which me soon be gone and replaced with the famous Sandals Resort. The Nylon pool is a must see, the coral reef was just amazing.

The Santa Rosa First Peoples are putting things in place for their one-off holiday this year. In October 2016, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley promised the First Peoples of Trinidad and Tobago that they would be given a one-off national holiday in recognition of their contribution to the islands. In May, government announced that Friday October 13th had been approved as the public holiday. Chief of the Santa Rosa First Peoples Community Ricardo Bharath-Hernandez said the activities leading up to the holiday will educate the younger generation about this country's rich history.
The twin islands work well as two-centre holidays where Trinidad offers mainly a business-orientated travel option but with some of the best bird watching in the Caribbean, and Tobago contrasts with a more laid back appeal and something of a beach life. The Minister of Tourism talks about plans to allocate 1500 rooms in Tobago and 5000 in Trinidad to attract private investment and growth.
